The invention relates to the field of maglev rail transit, in particular to an electromagnetic device for a maglev rail train and the maglev rail train. The electromagnetic device for the maglev rail train comprises at least one pair of duplex electromagnets, each duplex electromagnet comprises a plurality of magnetic poles arranged in sequence and a current control assembly used for controlling the coil current directions of the magnetic poles, and in response to an eddy current braking mode, the current control assembly is used for controlling the coil current directions of the magnetic poles. The current control assembly switches the coil current directions of the plurality of magnetic poles to alternately change the coil current directions of the adjacent magnetic poles, and in response to a steering mode, the current control assembly switches the coil current directions of the plurality of magnetic poles to be consistent. The electromagnetic device can be used for avoiding the problem of resource waste or further overcoming the defect that the stress on the eddy current brake magnet is excessively concentrated and reducing the heat productivity of the electromagnet coil, thereby prolonging the service life of the electromagnetic device.
