The invention relates to a method for diagnosing a technical system, in particular a battery pack system of an electric vehicle, having a plurality of components of the same type, the method comprising the following steps: a) measuring a state variable of the components; b) identifying the component which has an extreme value in terms of measured state variable; c) determining a standard value ofthe measured state variable; d) if the measured state variable of the identified component deviates from the standard value by more than a first threshold value, increasing the value of the fault counter of the component; repeating the steps a) to d); and e) marking the component if a fault counter of the component reaches a maximum number. The invention also relates to a battery pack system for an electric vehicle, the system comprising: at least one battery module having a plurality of similar battery cells; and at least one monitoring unit which is designed to carry out the method accordingto the invention. The invention also relates to an electric vehicle comprising the battery pack system according to the invention, which operates with the method according to the invention.
