The invention provides a bearing platform and method for installation of a large hydropower station underground plant unit. The bearing platform comprises a bearing table, a wedge plate and an expansion channel, wherein the annular wedge plate is arranged on the outer side of the bearing table of a columnar structure; the expansion channel is arranged in the bearing table; a storage channel and amanhole channel communicate with an annular cavity; the bearing table is located in a lower rack foundation pit; the wedge plate is located between the outer wall of the bearing table and the inner wall of a stator foundation pit; a lower rack and a cover plate are located on the bearing table in the stator foundation pit for assembly operation; the lower rack, the cover plate and the bearing table are sequentially hoisted back into a plant after assembly; and then the lower rack and the cover plate are hoisted into the lower rack foundation pit and the stator foundation pit respectively for assembly. The bearing platform solves the problems that the space of an original underground hydropower station plant is limited, installation of the lower rack and installation of the cover plate cannot be synchronously carried out, and the overall installation progress of the unit is affected, and the bearing platform has the advantages that the structure is simple, the construction site in the plant is expanded, the construction period is shortened, the installation progress of the unit is accelerated, and operation is easy and convenient.
