The invention relates to a method for predicting an expected charging duration of a high-voltage battery (1) of a motor vehicle (2), comprising the following steps: determining a route to be traveledby means of a route determination system (3) of the motor vehicle (2), and determining an actual temperature of the high-voltage battery (1) by means of an acquisition device (4) of the motor vehicle(2), determining an expected temperature progression of the high-voltage battery (1) by means of a determination device (5) of the motor vehicle (2) as a function of the determined travel route, an expected battery temperature of the high-voltage battery (1) at the charging pile is determined by means of the determination device (5), and an expected state of charge of the high-voltage battery (1)at the charging pile is determined by means of the determination device (5), and determining an expected charging duration of the high-voltage battery (1) at the charging pile by means of a determination device (5). The invention further relates to the motor vehicle (2) which is designed to carry out the method according to the invention.
