The invention relates to an electromotive drive train of a vehicle axle, which is designed for transverse installation in a vehicle and which has an electric machine that can be operated as a motor, agearbox and a switching device for switching actuation of the gearbox, wherein the gearbox is arranged between a drive shaft of the electric machine and an axle differential of the vehicle axle and is provided with at least two gear stages which can be shifted by means of a shift sleeve. For the preferred use of the drive train in a heavy commercial vehicle, the switching device is designed to beelectro-pneumatically effective. In order to carry out a shift actuation, for each shift sleeve of the shift transmission, the shift device has a double-acting shift cylinder with two pressure chambers separated by a piston. Each pressure chamber is associated with a solenoid valve for alternately charging or discharging air from a pressure-conducting supply line, and wherein the switching devicehas a pressure sensor coupled to the supply line for sensing monitoring, and wherein each switching cylinder has a displacement sensor.
