The invention relates to long-distance underwater detection equipment and a long-distance underwater detection method. The long-distance underwater detection equipment for a confined space includes asail portion pushed by a water flow to cause the long-distance underwater detection equipment to drift forward with the water flow, a battery compartment connected to the sail portion, a floating ballconnected to the battery bin, and a control bin. A protection frame is arranged around the floating ball, and a detection module used for underwater operation is carried on the protection frame; andthe control bin is electrically connected with the detection module and controls the detection module to operate underwater. The long-distance underwater detection equipment disclosed by the inventionis pushed to advance by virtue of water flow, does not need to be powered by a motor and is long in endurance time. In addition, the long-distance underwater detection equipment disclosed by the invention can throw out a ballast balance weight so as to float upwards when a specific condition is met. The long-distance underwater detection equipment disclosed by the invention does not need to use an umbilical cable for control and recovery in the operation period and is particularly suitable for long-distance detection to reduce the personnel risk, and improve the operation efficiency at the same time.
