The invention discloses a method for controlling an electric vacuum pump. The method comprises the following steps: S1, acquiring vehicle information; S2, calculating a vacuum degree threshold Pon_thfor starting a vacuum pump and a vacuum degree threshold Poff_th for closing the vacuum pump according to the vehicle information; and S3, controlling the opening and closing of the vacuum pump according to the vehicle information, the vacuum degree threshold Pon_th for starting the vacuum pump and the vacuum degree threshold Poff_th for closing the vacuum pump. A vacuum degree control threshold value is comprehensively calculated according to the working state of the vacuum pump, the vacuum degree information of a vacuum tank, atmospheric pressure information, slope information, vehicle loadinformation and vehicle speed information; and according to the comparison result of the vacuum degree of the vacuum tank and the vacuum degree control threshold value, opening or closing work enabling is sent to the vacuum pump so that the safety and energy-saving requirements in vacuum control are more perfectly considered, and a situation that the service life is influenced due to excessive frequent starting of the vacuum pump is prevented. The method is suitable for an automobile.
