The invention discloses a safe driving method for an autonomous vehicle. The safe driving method comprises the following steps that 1, the environment temperature, humidity, wind direction and wind speed are obtained; a pavement water film thickness, an accumulated snow thickness and an icing thickness are acquired; the weight of the whole vehicle, the length of the vehicle body, the mileage of the tire and the tire pressure of the tire are obtained; 2, a pavement environment safety index is obtained according to the humidity, the wind direction and the wind speed, the pavement water film thickness, the accumulated snow thickness and the icing thickness; a vehicle safety driving index is determined according to the whole vehicle weight, the vehicle body length, the driving mileage of the tire and the tire pressure of the tire; 3, the road surface environment safety index and the vehicle safety driving index are inputted into a fuzzy controller to obtain the safety driving speed grade of the vehicle; and 4, he safe driving speed of the vehicle is determined according to the safe driving speed grade of the vehicle and the speed limit value of the current road section.
