The disclosed contact strip comprises a wear strip (3) which is intended to come into contact with a catenary and is made of a first electrically conductive material, a pipe (4) suitable for containing a pressurised fluid, and connecting means capable of linking said pipe to a pneumatic circuit. According to the invention, the strip further comprises at least one electrically conductive element (5), referred to as an electrical detection element, made from a second electrically conductive material that has higher electrical conductivity than the first electrically conductive material, said electrically conductive element (5) being interposed between the pipe and the top surface of the wear strip (3), and connection means (71, 72) connecting said electrically conductive element (5) to an electrical detection circuit (8) incorporating said electrically conductive element. The invention therefore helps avoid, to a large extent, the emergency lowering of the pantograph arm as the operatoris warned, by means of this conductive element, that the contact strip is in an ''intermediate'' state of wear.
