A vehicle speed signal and a lateral acceleration signal in a vehicle driving process are acquired, the steering wheel angle variation is calculated through the vehicle speed signal and the lateral acceleration signal, the calculated numerical value is compared with the steering wheel angle variation detected by a steering wheel sensor, if the error between the calculated numerical value and the steeringwheel angle variation is within a preset range, it is considered that detection of the steering wheel sensor is accurate, and otherwise, detection of the steering wheel sensor is inaccurate. Whether the detection of the steering wheel sensor is accurate or not can be accurately judged, if the detection of the steering wheel sensor is not accurate, the sensor can be calibrated, so that the detection accuracy of the sensor is improved; and the adopted calibration method does not need to upgrade hardware of an automobile, and the whole calibration method is simple, efficient and accurate and hasgreat popularization value.
