The invention discloses an expansion joint and a railway vehicle power supply system. The expansion joint comprises a first connecting rail, a second connecting rail, a first sliding plate rotationally connected with the first connecting rail and a second sliding plate rotationally connected with the second connecting rail. The rotating axis of the first sliding plate and the rotating axis of thesecond sliding plate are parallel and can rotate in the vertical plane. The first sliding plate and the second sliding plate are distributed in the vertical direction and make contact with each other,the contact face of the first sliding plate and the second sliding plate is an inclined face and is in sliding fit along the inclined face, and an included angle is formed between the inclined face and the horizontal direction and is an acute angle. According to the expansion joint, tight contact between the first sliding plate and the second sliding plate is guaranteed in the extending state andthe retracting state, no gap exists between the first sliding plate and the second sliding plate, that is, it is guaranteed that the flow receiving face is always a plane and has no gap in the extending and retracting process, and therefore noise generated when rail vehicles pass through is eliminated.
