The invention discloses a control system and method capable of automatically adjusting a hydro-pneumatic suspension. The system comprises a hydro-pneumatic suspension body, a road condition information acquisition unit and a control unit, the road condition information acquisition unit sends acquired road condition information to the control unit; the control unit judges the unevenness informationand/or obstacle height information of the road surface based on the road condition information, damping adjustment information corresponding to the unevenness information is sent to a damping adjustment unit in the hydro-pneumatic suspension body, the opening degree of the damping adjustment unit is adjusted, and the optimal damping corresponding to the current road condition is obtained; and/orheight adjusting information corresponding to the obstacle height information is sent to a height adjusting unit in the hydro-pneumatic suspension body, the height of the hydro-pneumatic suspension body is adjusted, and the optimal height corresponding to the current obstacle is obtained. According to the invention, the road condition can be quickly and effectively recognized, then the height adjustment and/or damping adjustment are/is carried out on the hydro-pneumatic suspension body, and the hydro-pneumatic suspension is more intelligent.
