The invention provides a distance measurement device. The distance measurement device is provided with: a light projection unit that includes a light emission unit and that performs rotary scanning using projection light; a light reception unit; a distance measurement unit that measures the distance to an object to be measured, on the basis of emission of the projection light and light reception performed by the light reception unit; and an emission control unit that controls the light emission unit, wherein, during one cycle of the rotary scanning, the emission control unit changes the outputlevel of the projection light and the emission interval of the projection light, while keeping the average power of the projection light fixed.
