The invention discloses a forklift device and method for loading and unloading goods. The forklift device comprises an operating handle, a case and at least two fork arms, wherein the operating handleis installed on the case, and the fork arms are arranged at the front end of the case in parallel. The forklift device further comprises a driving wheel and a driving assembly for driving the drivingwheel to rotate. The forklift device also comprises a jacking plate and a jacking device for driving the jacking plate to swing up and down, wherein the jacking plate is movably mounted above the fork arms through rotating rods on the two sides; a roller is mounted on each fork arm, notches for accommodating the rollers are formed in the jacking plate, when the jacking plate ascends to the highest point, the jacking plate is higher than the roller, and when the jacking plate descends to the lowest point, the roller is higher than the jacking plate; and chain transmission assemblies for driving the rollers to rotate are further installed on the fork arms on the two sides. According to the invention, the rollers are additionally arranged on a traditional forklift, so that the goods are automatically moved into or out of the forklift, the goods are prevented from being carried out multiple workers, and automatic loading and unloading can be completed only through one-man operation.
