The invention relates to a system and method for recognizing the motion state of a twisting type roller winding and unwinding steel wire rope, which are suitable for detecting the motion state of the steel wire ropes of mine hoisting systems and elevator traction systems. The system comprises an industrial camera, a steel wire rope axial-speed measuring device and an industrial personal computer, wherein the industrial personal computer is used for receiving an image signal obtained by shooting a roller rope outlet point with the industrial camera and an axial motion speed signal of the steel wire rope collected by a shaft encoder, and comprehensively motoring the motion state of the steel wire rope. The comprehensive monitoring for the circular degree of a roller, the disorder station of the roller steel wire rope and the real-time speed of a lifting container is realized. The visualization, automation and intelligentization of monitoring the motion state of the twisting type roller winding and unwinding steel wire rope are realized. The system has the advantages of being simple in structure, convenient to operate and good in using effect.
