The invention discloses a monitoring system for an abnormal condition in an elevator car. The monitoring system comprises at least one 3D somatosensory photographing device which is arranged in the elevator car. The 3D somatosensory photographing device sends collected original sensing data flow to a signal processing device. Whether a dynamic behavior of a passenger is abnormal or not or whether the passenger is in a danger state or not is judged through the signal processing device. When it is judged through the signal processing device that the dynamic behavior of the passenger is abnormal or the passenger is in the danger state, an indication signal is sent to an emergency handling device. The monitoring device is based on the somatosensory photographing technique so that the passenger in an accident can be rescued in time, the difficulty of rescuing the trapped person can be lowered, and the risk of a violence accident between passengers in the elevator car can be lowered or prevented. The invention further discloses a monitoring method for the abnormal condition in the elevator car.
