A platform (20, 80, 100) for supporting a tidal turbine (4) is disclosed as including at least one hull (22, 41, 42, 61, 62) to which at least one tidal turbine (4) is mountable, a number of ballast compartments (2, 92) within the hull (22, 41, 42, 61, 62), and a ballast structure (3) within the hull (22, 41, 42, 61, 62) and underneath the ballast compartments (2, 92), the platform (20, 80, 100) being floatable on seawater when the ballast compartments (2, 92) are de-ballasted, and the platform (20, 80, 100) being adapted to descend to the bottom of the sea when the ballast compartments (2, 92) are ballasted.
