The invention relates to a simple vehicle detection, classification and identification method based on a geomagnetic sensor. A portable vehicle detection, classification and identification system is established, and the portable system is arranged by a road. Next, aimed at typical vehicle models, the geomagnetic sensor is used to collect disturbance signals of vehicles to an geomagnetic field when the vehicles pass by the sensor, and magnetic field disturbance data is stored in a PC machine; a camera is simultaneously started for recording vehicle model information, the vehicle model information is used for marking the corresponding magnetic field disturbance data, and samples are made; characteristics in the data are extracted and collected and are stored in the samples, so that characteristic databases of the different vehicle models are established; and finally, the geomagnetic disturbance data of unknown vehicle models is collected, characteristic extraction is carried out, the characteristic databases are compared based on the extracted characteristics, and by means of an improved support vector machine classification algorithm, vehicle model identification is realized. By adopting the method provided by the invention, vehicle model detection is simpler, more reliable and more convenient.
