The invention relates to a rolling bearing unit (1) particularly for an exchangeable wheel bearing unit (100). The rolling bearing unit (1) comprises at least one of a first rolling bearing half (6-1) and a second rolling bearing half (6-2), wherein each of the first rolling bearing half (6-1) and the second rolling bearing half (6-2) has an inner ring (8) and an outer ring (10), which are designed to rotate around each other. A list of rolling bodies (12) are arranged between the inner rings (8) and the outer rings (10), and the outer rings (10) of the first rolling bearing half (6-1) and the second rolling bearing half (6-2) are configured to directly abut against each other. At least one of the outer rings (10) has a radial notch (26) in a contact area (20) of the first rolling bearing half (6-1) and the second rolling bearing half (6-2). The invention further relates to a wheel bearing unit with the rolling bearing unit (1).
