The invention discloses resin for improving rubber tear resistance and a preparation method thereof. The modified resin is characterized in that phenol and DCPD are subjected to a Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction through boron trifluoride-diethyl ether catalysis to synthesize phenol-DCPD resin at first, then the phenol-DCPD resin reacts with an unsaturated olefin compound under the acidic condition, rosin and derivative are obtained through further modification, and the softening point of the resin is 60-145 DEG C. The rubber compound of the resin forms one or more tire parts and has the advantages of being good in tear resistance and high in elongation at break, and the processing performance is improved.
