The invention discloses a hybrid electric vehicle power coupler with a variable speed ratio, relates to the field of power couplers, and is used for power coupling of an engine and a motor in a hybrid electric vehicle. The power coupler comprises a pair of movable gears, a metal chain having engagement teeth, a first input shaft connected with an engine, a second input shaft connected with a motor, and an output shaft. The engine transfers power to a power coupling device through the first input shaft; the motor transfers the power to the power coupling device through the second input shaft; and a movable tooth stepless speed changer, as the power coupling device, synthesizes the output power of two power sources. The axis distance and the deviation angle of the second input shaft or the output shaft corresponding to the first input shaft can be adjusted according to specific conditions. The hybrid electric vehicle power coupler is a novel power coupler.
