The invention relates to a ship lateral propeller thrust measuring test model and application thereof. A groove channel is of a hexahedron structure. A central through hole is formed in the center of the groove channel. A propeller auxiliary is fixed to the inner wall of the central through hole of the groove channel. An axial through hole matched with a rotating shaft of a propeller dynamometer is arranged at the horizontal center of the propeller auxiliary. A diversion cap is arranged on the front side of a propeller. The propeller is arranged on the rotating shaft in the central through hole and located on the front side of the propeller auxiliary. The length of the groove channel is twice the diameter of blades of the propeller. The central through hole of the groove channel is chamfered, and the radius size of the chamfer is larger than 0.1 time of the diameter of the blades of the propeller. The central line of the propeller, the horizontal central line of the propeller auxiliary and the central line of the central through hole of the groove channel are coaxial. The test model is established, and the total thrust of the lateral propeller can be obtained through a scientific testing and measuring method by means of the model scientifically and accurately.
