The invention provides a handrail tensioning adjusting device of an escalator. The escalator comprises a truss, wherein the truss is composed of a truss upper transverse beam, a truss lower transverse beam and a truss lower transverse beam supporting connection rod; a handrail left guide mechanism and a handrail right guide mechanism are fixed on the front side of the truss upper transverse beam. The handrail tensioning adjusting device comprises a vertical plate, wherein the vertical plate is located between the handrail left guide mechanism and the handrail right guide mechanism; a pair of adjusting grooves are formed in the upper part of the vertical plate; adjusting screw rod lower connection seats are fixed at the positions corresponding to the lower sides of the pair of adjusting grooves; a pinch roller frame adjusting plate is connected with the pair of adjusting grooves; the lower part of the front side of the pinch roller frame adjusting plate is connected with an adjusting screw rod upper connection seat; and the upper end of an adjusting screw rod is positioned at the upper and lower ends of the adjusting screw rod upper connection seat. With the adoption of the handrail tensioning adjusting device, handrails have a needed tensioning effect; the size is reduced, the occupied space is saved and the adaption degree of a mounting position is improved; and the structure is simple, the manufacturing and installation are convenient, and the handrail tensioning adjusting device is economical and cheap.
