The invention relates to an alternating energy-saving elevator traction machine. The alternating energy-saving elevator traction machine comprises a connection A and a connection B, wherein a first traction machine traction roller which is arranged on the top of a carriage passes by a crown block which is installed on the top end by virtue of a traction wire cable to form the connection A; a second traction machine traction roller which is arranged on the top of a counterweight passes by a crown block installed on the top by virtue of a traction wire cable to form the connection B; and the alternating energy-saving traction machine also comprises a connection C, wherein the bottom of the carriage and the bottom of the counterweight respectively pass by a first guide roller and a second guide roller by virtue of a compensation chain to form the connection C. By adopting the alternating energy-saving elevator traction machine, compared with a conventional traction machine, the electric power is saved by 30 percent; moreover, by adopting a plurality of brake ways, when one traction machine cannot run, the other traction machine drives the carriage to a nearest flat bed position, so that the safety performance of the elevator traction machine system can be improved.
