The invention discloses a centrifugal type mechanical speed limiter, which is suitable for speed limit mechanisms of elevators and stretchable mechanisms and the like, and comprises a support frame, balancing weights, fiction blocks, baffle plates, a spring, a brake hub, a shell, a rotating shaft, a bearing and a mounting plate, wherein the two ends of the rotating shaft are respectively arranged on the shell and the mounting plate through the bearing, the support frame is arranged on the rotating shaft, guide rails are arranged on the two ends of the support frame, the two baffle plates are respectively arranged on the end surfaces of the guide rails which are arranged on the two ends of the support frame, the two balancing weights are respectively sleeved on the guide rails which are arranged on the two ends of the support frame, the spring is arranged on a vertical guiding position of the middle of the baffle plates, and is compressed between the baffle plates and the balancing weights, the fiction blocks and the balancing weights are connected, the brake hub is sleeved in the shell and is fixedly connected with the shell, and the shell and the mounting plate are fixedly connected. The rotating shaft and the support frame rotate and drive the balancing weights and the fiction blocks, and the fiction blocks and the brake hub are contacted and produce tangential friction force, thereby producing rotating brake force to the rotating shaft. The centrifugal type mechanical speed limiter is simple in structure, small in volume and high in reliability.
