The invention relates to a powertrain for a vehicle having at least one electric drive which can be coupled to at least one first transmission ratio stage (i1) and a second transmission ratio stage (i2) via a drive shaft (2), at least one shift mechanism for shifting the transmission ratio stages (i1, i2) being provided. The shift mechanism comprises at least one form-fit shift element (5) and at least one friction-fit shift element (6, 6A) for load shifting, each of the transmission ratio stages (i1, i2) being shiftable by the form-fit shift element (5), and at least one of the transmission ratio stages (i2) being shiftable both by the form-fit shift element (5) and by the friction-fit shift element (6). The invention further relates to methods for carrying out a load change between a friction-fit shift element (6, 6A) and a form-fit shift element (5) of the powertrain.
