The invention discloses a safety management system for freight transportation. Before the starting process of a vehicle, a central processor sends the necessary maintenance items of the vehicle to a vehicle-mounted terminal in the form of a list. After that, a driver maintains the vehicle according to the maintenance list displayed on the vehicle-mounted terminal, and then inputs a maintenance result into the vehicle-mounted terminal. Then the vehicle-mounted terminal uploads the maintenance result to the central processor. The central processor conducts the analysis on the maintenance result and stores an analysis result in a memory. If the vehicle is qualified in the respect of the above maintenance items, the central processor sends a vehicle starting allowing command to the vehicle-mounted terminal. If the vehicle is unqualified in the respect of the above maintenance items, the central processor sends a vehicle starting forbidding command to the vehicle-mounted terminal. The vehicle-mounted terminal receives the vehicle starting forbidding command and then locks the vehicle. After that, a fatigue driving early-warning device monitors the fatigue state of the driver in real time. Meanwhile, an ultrasonic sensor detects obstacles in front of the vehicle. Therefore, the purpose of improving the freight transportation safety is realized.
