The invention discloses application of modular shipbuilding in semi-submersible platform building. A semi-submersible platform is divided into a living quarter module, a deck sheath module, stand columns and a buoyancy tank module. The stand columns and the buoyancy tank module are located and laid on piles, then the deck sheath module is hoisted, the living quarter module is hoisted when the deck sheath module is assembled and welded by 80%, and finally the work is completed. The semi-submersible platform is a high-tech and high added-value product, the building technology of the semi-submersible platform almost covers all cutting-edge technologies of the shipbuilding industry, and it needs lots of manpower to guarantee the quality and the safety of platform building from the technology aspect. Modular shipbuilding mainly aims to lower the cost in the whole lifecycle, maintain advancement of a platform system, shorten the building cycle, make upgrade flexible and make a new system convenient to install. According to the invention, the requirements of the large platform size, the high building difficulty and the short building period can be met, and modular shipbuilding can be popularized in the fields of common ship building and FPSO oil storage ship building.
