The invention provides a vehicle power system with a fuel combustion engine, wherein a homopolar DC electromagnetic transmission (HET) in a power train realizes continuously variable transmission. Controlling for a vehicle advancing driving torque and a vehicle backing driving torque is performed by an adjustment control system of the HET. The HET outputs the vehicle advancing driving torque or the vehicle backing driving torque which is required for a driver instruction. An engine speed regulator makes an engine perform servo-actuated operation in one adjusting line, and supplying of a required power is required. An existing mechanical continuously variable transmission and an existing hydrodynamic torque converter have no functions of bidirectional transmission, reverse rotation, zero rotating speed, zero torque, negative torque adjustment, etc.; the powers of the existing mechanical continuously variable transmission and the existing hydrodynamic torque converter cannot satisfy a requirement for several hundreds to several thousands kilowatts; the existing mechanical continuously variable transmission and the existing hydrodynamic torque converter further have defects of low efficiency and complicated structure. The HET prevents the problems in the existing mechanical continuously variable transmission and the existing hydrodynamic torque converter. An existing vehicle engine has low fuel efficiency in operation. The vehicle power system can make the engine operate in a line with an optimal efficiency, and the economic performance is greatly improved.
