Provided is a driving force controller for an electric vehicle capable of reducing sense of strangeness brought to a driver between operating an accelerator pedal and an actual output torque generated by a drive motor. The driving force controller for an electric vehicle includes a target torque setting means (5, 7, 8, 9, 10) which sets a target torque by restricting the upper limit of a basic target torque value on the basis of the basic target torque value and a motor torque corresponding to the maximum discharge power. The target torque setting means moves an accelerator opening degree for generating a restricted target torque toward an accelerator opening degree greater than the accelerator opening degree on a graph that shows a relationship between an accelerator opening degree and a target torque, and corrects the basic target torque value so that the target torque becomes smaller than the basic target torque value in the region of an accelerator opening degree that is smaller than the restricted accelerator opening degree.
