The invention relates to the technical field of engineering machinery, and discloses a traveling mechanism for a roof crane and the crane. The traveling mechanism comprises a wheel device and a traction device, the wheel device is arranged on a base of the crane, and the traction device is used for connecting the crane to a fixing point at a traveling destination of the crane. The crane can move towards the fixing point through the wheel device under the traction of the traction device. The traveling mechanism comprises the wheel device and the traction device, and the traction device can drag the crane to the fixing point at the traveling destination. Through the technical scheme, the traction device can be used for directly connecting the crane and the fixing point at the traveling destination, and therefore the crane is dragged to move towards the fixing point without guide rails and other auxiliary devices; not only is the structure simple, but also operation is convenient, and transfer of the crane can be quickly and conveniently achieved.
