The invention relates to a rope shaft guide cage energy collecting device and method. The device comprises a mechanical power on-off controlling portion, a press rod portion, a power generating portion and an electric portion. The energy collecting device is arranged on a cage through kinetic energy of up-down movement of a steel wire rope shaft guide cage, and a pressing motor is controlled to operate to enable an idler wheel to tightly press the surface of a cage stabilizing steel wire rope. When the cage moves along the cage stabilizing steel wire rope under the action of a lifting steel wire rope, the idler wheel rotates under the friction action, power is transmitted to a power generator, and a circuit conditioning module can rectify and filter alternating current generated by the power generator to charge a storage battery. When a storage battery capacity detecting module detects that the storage battery capacity reaches a rated saturated state, the pressing motor rotates reversely, the idler wheel breaks away from the cage stabilizing steel wire rope, and the power generator stops charging the storage battery. By means of a mechanical off-charge connecting method, the service life of the storage battery is prolonged, and the abrasion of the energy collecting device to the cage stabilizing steel wire rope is reduced. The energy collecting device is simple in structure, stable, reliable and good in using effect.
