A device for detecting the swing of a steel wire-rope of a vertical shaft cage guide, comprising a photoelectric detection system; the photoelectric detection system comprises a parallel light source generator (3) and a photoelectric conversion device (6); the parallel light source generator (3) and the photoelectric conversion device (6) are respectively located on two opposing sides of a shaft wall at the height of a detection point, and the parallel light source generator (3) is aligned with the photoelectric conversion device (6); a steel wire-rope (5) of the vertical shaft cage guide is located between the parallel light source generator (3) and the photoelectric conversion device (6), and the photoelectric conversion device is connected to a host computer. Photoelectric non-contact measurement can effectively detect dynamic swing of a hoist in an intermediate portion of the steel wire-rope of the cage guide for one or more hoist strokes, and solves the problem that crucial swings of the steel wire-rope of the vertical shaft cage guide could not be measured; further, under the adjustment of a centering device suspended with multiple degrees of freedom, the alignment accuracy of the emission could be guaranteed, with a simple structure, a convenient installation and use, and a high measuring efficiency.
