The invention provides a safety monitoring method for an elevator. The safety monitoring method comprises the following steps: when a user enters the elevator, monitoring a monitoring instruction output by the user; monitoring the operation stage of the elevator to sense a first accelerated speed and a second accelerated speed of the elevator; drawing a first accelerated speed curve and a second accelerated speed curve according to the first accelerated speed and the second accelerated speed which are sensed; judging whether the elevator runs normally or not according to the first accelerated speed curve and the second accelerated speed curve, wherein if so, the elevator runs normally, or the next step is continuously carried out; outputting an alarm signal for enabling a repairer to repair the elevator. According to the safety monitoring method, under the condition that an elevator repairer does not need to provide extra monitoring equipment, real-time monitoring of elevator running is realized, so that the cost is reduced, the monitoring efficiency is improved, the potential safety hazard of the elevator is eliminated, safe running of the elevator is guaranteed, and personnel injuries caused by an elevator accident is avoided.
