The invention provides a backlight adjusting system and method for an automobile. The backlight adjusting system comprises a touch switch module, an automobile body controller, a door sheet switch, a center control panel switch, a combination instrument, a sound box panel and an air conditioner panel. The touch switch module comprises a touch switch, a power conversion module and a processor. The touch switch module is connected with the automobile body controller, the door sheet switch and the center control panel switch through LIN buses. The automobile body controller is further connected with the combination instrument, the sound box panel and the air conditioner panel through CAN buses. The problems that the anti-interference performance of PWM signals output by a mechanical roller type backlight adjusting switch is poor, and mechanical parts are prone to abrasion can be avoided.
