A rail transportation system comprises a train rail. A front train head, a train carriage, an outside-station replacement carriage and a rear train head which are in drive connection are arranged on the train rail. The train carriage and the outside-station replacement carriage can be separated and connected. The front train head, the train carriage, the outside-station replacement carriage and the rear train head are connected with one another. The train rail is connected with a plurality of parking rails side by side through parking rail-transfer sections and train rail-transfer sections on the way. Each parking rail is provided with an inside-station replacement carriage in drive connection with the train carriage, wherein the other end of the inside-station replacement carriage is in drive connection with an inside-station replacement train head. The front train head is located at the front end in the advancing direction and is sequentially connected with the train carriage, the outside-station replacement carriage and the rear train head. The inside-station replacement carriage on each parking rail is located at the front end of the corresponding inside-station replacement train head. The front train head is located at the front end in the advancing direction and is sequentially connected with the outside-station replacement carriage, the train carriage and the rear train head.
