The invention relates to a method for controlling a connection of a high-voltage source (34) of a motor vehicle (10) to a high-voltage network (32) of the motor vehicle (10), in that first at least one test value for an electrical operating variable (Uzk) of the high-voltage network (32) is determined by means of a control device (46) of the motor vehicle (10) after a connection command (Z) is received. Said electrical operating variable depends on a capacitance (C) actually effective at a connection (22) of the high-voltage source (12) to the high-voltage network (32). Only if the at least one test value meets a predefined safety condition, is a precharge current (Iv) of the high-voltage source (34) conducted via a first precharge resistor (R1), which limits the precharge current (Iv), to the connection (22) and into the high-voltage network (32) to charge up a capacitor of the high-voltage network (32). Otherwise (50') the precharge current (Iv) is blocked.
