The invention relates to an Internet of things based automobile safety system and automobile safety communication method. The system comprises a trip computer, the trip computer receives radar signals in real time through a CAN signal transceiving apparatus, determines the speeds and distances of surrounding vehicles, displays the speeds and the distances through a touch control display and prompts a driver of the driving speeds of other surrounding vehicles and the distances from the vehicles, so that the driver can take actions timely to accelerate driving or pull over at the roadsides and the like, scratch or rear collision accidents are prevented, and the driving safety is greatly improved. The trip computer, when determining that the distances from the surrounding vehicles to the vehicle itself are smaller than a set threshold, controls a wireless signal circuit to establish wireless connection with the surrounding vehicles so that drivers can carry out conversation communication and know the driving conditions therebetween, and accordingly, traffic accidents are avoided.
