The invention provides a climbing mechanism in a loading and unloading system for a container and belongs to the technical field of machines. The technical problems that when the container is loaded and unloaded through an existing container crane, the operation space of a suspension arm intervenes with cables, the suspension arm of the container crane can hardly extend to the position above the container, unloading operation is troublesome, and the safety coefficient is low are solved. The climbing mechanism comprises a machine frame and two first climbing arms connected to the machine frame in a sliding manner. The two first climbing arms are parallel and can extend out of the same side of the machine frame. Each first climbing arm comprises a movable beam and a climbing beam. The movable beams are connected to the machine frame in a sliding manner. The climbing beams are overlapped above the movable beams and can move up and down relative to the movable beams. The outer ends and the inner ends of the climbing beams are provided with clamping arms. The clamping arms are provided with insertion columns and first drive sources. The clamping arms at the outer ends of the climbing beams are hinged to the outer ends of the climbing beams. The climbing beams are further provided with second drive sources capable of driving the clamping arms at the outer ends of the climbing beams horizontally. The climbing mechanism can stably and safely jack the container.
