The invention provides a vehicle brake system with a backup mode. The vehicle brake system comprises a brake pedal, a pedal movement sensor, a control unit, a brake feeling feedback generation unit, a supercharging driver, a brake main cylinder and a main cylinder pressure sensor. The brake feeling feedback generation unit comprises a linear electromagnetic driver which is arranged to serve as a feedback feeling generation mechanism for vehicle brake, and the linear electromagnetic driver is driven to be in a feedback drive mode or a supercharging drive mode. The control unit generates a drive signal enabling the linear electromagnetic driver to be in the supercharging drive mode based on the abnormal state of the supercharging driver and/or the abnormal state of the brake main cylinder, and otherwise a drive signal enabling the linear electromagnetic driver to be in the feedback drive mode is generated. By means of the brake system, when the brake requirement is put forward, the pedal brake feeling feedback is achieved in a favorable manner, the brake system can be utilized for providing active supercharging in need, and the reliability of the brake system is improved.
