The invention relates to a reef detecting method based on laser imaging. The reef detecting method comprises the following steps: 1) a reef detecting system based on laser imaging for underwater reef recognition is provided, wherein the detecting system comprises laser imaging equipment, static storage equipment and reef detecting equipment; the laser imaging equipment starts the shooting of underwater laser images based on a sonar image processing result; the static storage equipment stores data required by reef detection in advance; the reef detecting equipment is connected with the laser imaging equipment and the static storage equipment respectively, and performs image processing on the underwater laser images so as to determine whether a reef target exists or not; 2) the system operates Through the adoption of the reef detecting method disclosed by the invention, the underwater terrain can be accurately explored.
