The invention discloses an equalization module and control method of a locomotive brake. The equalization module comprises a first electromagnetic valve group, a second electromagnetic valve group, a switching valve, a pressure sensor, a switching electromagnetic valve, and a controller, wherein the first electromagnetic valve group is a working electromagnetic valve group; the switching valve is connected with the first electromagnetic valve group and the second electromagnetic valve group; the pressure sensor is connected with the switching valve; one end of the switching electromagnetic valve is connected with the controller, and the other end of the switching electromagnetic valve is connected with the switching valve; the controller is connected with the first electromagnetic valve group, the second electromagnetic valve group, the pressure sensor and the switching electromagnetic valve; when the controller judges that the first electromagnetic valve group has a fault by detecting the pressure sensor, the controller controls the switching electromagnetic valve to lose electricity, and changes the gas way of the switching valve, so that the second electromagnetic valve group begins to work; therefore, the normal operation of the equalization module is guaranteed, the safety redundancy degree of the brake and the intelligence level of the brake are improved, and the safe operation and the reliable operation of the brake are guaranteed.
