The invention provides a variable radius walking robot which comprises variable radius spokes, a micro-processor, an object carrying base plate, a signal transceiver, a CCD (Charge Coupled Device) camera, a mechanical arm, spoke strips, antiskid rubber balls, base wheels, electromagnetic pipes and electromagnetic sleeves. The variable radius walking robot can realize the effects that the diameters of the wheels change in a walking process, so that different walking modes including variable radius turning and obstacle crossing waling can be realized, and the variable radius walking robot can even cross a very high barrier, and is very high in adaptability. The mechanical arm of the variable radius walking robot is matched with the CCD camera, so that long distance remote operation can be realized, and the variable radius walking robot can enter a complicated space to operate, is particularly suitable for the operation in rugged topography and section topography, and is suitable for disaster relief, exploration, etc. The walking mode of the variable radius walking robot breaks through the traditional mode, and the changes of the radiuses of the spokes are controlled by adopting an electromagnetic valve mechanism, so that the variable radius walking robot is reliable and convenient, and the dependence on the topography can be reduced to the greatest degree.
