The invention relates to an escalator hand strap auxiliary drive device and belongs to the technical field of escalators, particularly escalators with long hand straps. The escalator hand strap auxiliary drive device comprises an auxiliary motor electrically connected with an escalator control cabinet and a speed reducing mechanism. The auxiliary motor is used for driving a hand strap wheel to directly provide auxiliary drive force for a hand strap through the speed reducing mechanism so that an escalator main machine can be enhanced and driving of the hand strap can be improved. The auxiliary motor can follow the escalator main machine in rotation speed all the time and drive the hand strap together with the escalator main machine. By means of the escalator hand strap auxiliary drive device, the problem that a common escalator hand strap is prone to skidding and loses speed is solved, and even if the escalator hand strap is long, the speed is not prone to losing.
