The invention relates to a novel traffic information system, and particularly to a distributed self-organizing public transport information system which is based on on-vehicle equipment and is integrated through short-distance wireless communication. Whole path information of driving vehicles in a public transport network is stored in a distributed on-vehicle database, and furthermore processed and optimized information is exchanged through the short-distance wireless communication between the vehicles based on the path information, thereby realizing real-time propagation of dynamic road network traffic information in a public transport system, and forming a public transport information system which is different from a traditional transport information system and can be self-organized without a centralized processing and transmitting center. The information which is generated and propagated by the distributed self-organizing public transport information system can be widely used for the aspects of traffic management, control, planning, etc. The distributed self-organizing public transport information system is a beneficial supplement and improvement for an existing traffic information system and furthermore has the functions of improving a feasibility of introducing a third-party service provider, better using the passing capability of an existing traffic network, and promoting urban transport to advance for realizing low-carbon and environment-friendly performance.
