A congestion sign detection method is implemented by a congestion sing detection device (10) provided with a three-dimensional acceleration sensor (14) which acquires information relating to accelerations in X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis directions that form an orthogonal coordinate system of a three-dimensional space, and comprises: an input data calculation step for calculating an acceleration vector using the information relating to the accelerations acquired by the three-dimensional acceleration sensor (14), and calculates, as input data, a norm of a difference in the vector at two different timings; a frequency analysis step for calculating an autocorrelation of the input data, and calculating a power spectrum by performing Fourier transformation on the autocorrelation; an angular information acquisition step for converting the power spectrum into information relating to an angle; and a congestion sign detection step for detecting a congestion sign according to the information relating to the angle.
