The invention discloses a GPS anti-bowling system and method for a yard crane. The GPS anti-bowling system comprises a wharf operation system, a GPS(Global Positioning System), an RTG wireless terminal and a yard crane control subsystem, wherein the wharf operation system is provided with a data processing module, a wireless transmission module and a man-machine operation interface which are mutually connected; the GPS is connected with the wharf operation system through Internet; the RTG wireless terminal is connected with the wharf operation system through a wireless network; the yard crane control subsystem comprises a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and a positioning controller connected with the PLC, wherein the PLC is connected with the wireless transmission module in a wireless manner, and the positioning controller monitors the locations of a trolley and a lifting appliance in real time. Through the adoption of the GPS anti-bowling system disclosed by the invention, the working efficiency is greatly improved for enterprises, and the production cost is greatly reduced; besides, the labor strength of drivers is greatly lowered, and the rate of production accidents is lowered; the GPS anti-bowling system plays a positive role in improving the overall safety of the wharf industry.
