The invention relates to a battery cell (10) with an electrode assembly (12) which is arranged in a housing (14), wherein the battery cell (10) comprises a selectively electrically conductive material (22), when the selectively electrically conductive material transfers a condition of exceeding a critical limit voltage to an electrically conducting state, and which is arranged in such arrangement, so that a positive electrode (17) and a negative electrode (18) of the electrode assembly (12) are short-circuited in the electrically conducting state. The invention also relates to a battery module and a vehicle with such a battery cell (10).
