A hybrid vehicle drive device is provided with a planetary gear mechanism, a first rotator connected to the sun gear of the planetary gear mechanism, an engine connected to a carrier of the planetary gear mechanism, a drive wheel and second rotator connected to a ring gear of the planetary gear mechanism, a limiting mechanism limiting rotation of the carrier, a first travel mode for travelling with the second rotator as the power source, and a second travel mode for travelling with the first rotator and the second rotator as the power source with the limiting mechanism limiting the rotation of the carrier, wherein, when switching from the first travel mode to the second travel mode (S30-Y), the carrier is rotated by the first rotator (S40).
