The invention discloses a control method of a locomotive driver alerting device. The control method comprises the following steps: when locomotive speed is greater than a set value, the alerting device is started; when alerting reset button closing or disconnection time exceeds the set value, a buzzer intermittently gives an alarm; when the intermittent alarm duration of the buzzer exceeds the set value, the buzzer continuously gives an alarm, and a locomotive carries out emergency braking; when the locomotive speed is equal to zero, the buzzer stops giving an alarm, and the emergency braking is alleviated. Even if the button fails, an alerting function of the locomotive is free from misoperation; a driver can reset alerting time by controlling the conversion of a driver controller handle position and the working condition of the locomotive; unlocking is not realized until the locomotive speed is zero after the emergency braking is performed due to the alerting function action, and potential safety hazards are eliminated; the workload of a driver can be greatly reduced; a phenomenon that the driver cuts off the alerting function without authorization is avoided.
